Castelluccio di Noto

is an archaeological site located in the Syracuse area, between the towns of Noto and Palazzolo Acreide and which gave its name to the culture of Castelluccio. The site was located by the archaeologist Paolo Orsi given that between the fifteenth and the nineteenth century BC and, therefore, to the Early Bronze Age Sicily. Scholars have identified the plan of the town, situated on a rocky outcrop, a sort of fortified acropolis and necropolis. The necropolis consists of over 200 graves with artificial caves, carved into the steep walls of the Lady of the nearby quarry. The most monumental is the so-called "Tomb of the Prince" with a false prospectus consists of four pillars. From the website are many ceramic materials, now on display at the Archaeological Museum "Paolo Orsi" in Syracuse, as well as exhibits in two famous bronze doors and tombstones engraved with spiral symbols.
